Due to increasing client numbers we are looking for a new vet to join our friendly team. We are currently a team of three vets but a fourth vet will allow us all to enjoy a four day week and oppertunity to pursue our interests, be that studying for a certificate or training for a marathon.
We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with a caring bedside manner, who works well in a team and isn't afraid to muck in. In return, we'll offer funded CPD, no OOH or Bank Holidays, 20 days holiday and a great working environment where you can get to know your clients and patients. New graduates would be supported with extended appointment times, a surgical buddy and help with your PDP. Colleagues looking to study for a certificate will be encouraged and funded. Salary and hours are negotiable, our aim is to provide a four day week for each vet and 1 in 4 Saturday mornings. And you get your Birthday off!
We do like to get together to celebrate birthdays, exam success or for no reason at all!
A bit about the practice. Greensands Vets has been in Woburn Sands for over 15 years and the current team has been in place for the last 5.5 years since Derek Attride & Emma Pillow bought the practice. The team here is friendly & welcoming and we share a passion for pets (& cake). We are genuinely customer-focused because we know just how much our pets mean to us all. For us, client care is as important as patient care and it isn't just a box-ticking exercise, it's the driving force behind everything we do.
We are RCVS accredited and also a silver level cat friendly practice. We enjoy finding all sorts of ways to improve a cat's visit with us, and in 2018 we opened a seperate cat zone, with a large consult room, cattery and waiting area.
Our client base is well-educated and caring, so it's a pleasure to consult and providing continuity of care is really important to us and them. That we are not a corporate is an enormous selling point. We're growing month on month and have already grown from one to three consulting rooms in our time here.
You will be supported by a nursing team that is really enthusiastic and supportive. Our four registered veterinary nurses consult as well as working in theatre and kennels and on the reception desk. Our nurses currently run weight management and Senior Pet clinics, are the main point of contact for puppy & kitten owners with monthly weigh & worm consults plus they see all post op checks, second vaccinations etc. We also have an animal care assistant and two delightful receptionists.
The surgery itself is well-equipped with digital & dental X-ray, ultrasound scanner with colour Doppler, anaesthetic monitoring equipment (capnography, pulse oximetry, ECG, temperature probes ) and in-house Idexx lab. In the 5.5 years we've been here, Derek & I have been amazed at the wide variety of cases we've seen and treated. We work our cases up fully and perform most procedures here but for those cases requiring specialist equipment or expertise, Davies Vet Specialists and the RVC are only 30-45 minutes away and offer great care and advice. All OOH care is provided by Vets Now, located just a 10 minute drive away. We don't set targets or strict clinical protocols, our care is tailor-made for each individual case.
We are trying to be greener, from our pet food pouch recycling scheme to our bamboo mugs and recycled syringes and collars.
Woburn Sands is a fantastic place to live and work, with local shops, cafes, pubs & delis in the village itself and mountain biking trails, heathland & woodland for walking just at the top of the high street. There is a railway station just 2 minutes walk away. The beautiful Georgian town of Woburn with some fantastic restaurants, pubs and the Abbey, safari and deer park is just a mile away. When only a big city will do, London is only a 45 minute train journey and it's an easy drive to Cambridge or Bicester Village. Milton Keynes itself is surprisingly good for shopping, so don't think it's all concrete cows & roundabouts!!
Take a look at our website, our Facebook page and our Google reviews to get a feel for the place. If you like what you hear, why not call us (01908 282101) or email our practice manager, Vicky, (firstname.lastname@example.org) for an informal chat or go straight to sending us your CV and covering letter. We'd love to hear from you.
