Outside of our usual opening hours we are in partnership with Vets Now, a dedicated emergency with clinics all over the UK. Our partner clinic is located in Walnut Tree, Milton Keynes. Working with them means that between us we can offer you and your pet a first class service both day and night, with skilled staff who are refreshed and ready to deal with any emergency.
Don't worry if you are not familiar with the area. If you need to be seen out of hours, they will send you directions via your phone (text directions if you're not a smartphone user) and an idea about the time the journey will take you. They are only a 10 minute drive from our surgery and we have plenty of maps and information about them that you are welcome to take home and keep somewhere handy.
Click on this link to Vets Now and enter your current location and you can obtain detailed directions to whichever is the nearest emergency clinic to you.
If you are not sure whether your pet needs to be seen urgently, please do phone anyway. They are happy to offer telephone advice and an experienced veterinary nurse is on hand to triage (as they do in human A&E departments), so more minor ailments can be dealt with without the cost of a consultation fee.
Vets Now are also able to supply us with the drugs and blood products for transfusions that we might need for emergencies during the daytime.
We think this excellent service provides you & your pet with the level of care you have come to expect 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Please be aware that because of the nature of Out of Hours emergencies, a night-time or weekend appointment will be more expensive than seeing a vet during usual hours. Vets Now will discuss this with you at the time of booking an appointment and before any treatment is given. Please consider pet insurance to provide you with peace of mind that your pet will be able to receive the best possible care 24 hours a day.
If your pet has eaten something they shouldn't and you are unsure whether it is potentially harmful, the Animal Poison Line is available 24/7 and can advise you whether the product is toxic at the amount eaten and whether you need to seek veterinary attention. This service costs £30 and their number is 01202 509000.
